Free Your Mind Control

I don't watch TV at all. Turning on TV news (or most radio) now for me is a horrific education in social mind control through fear. Just now I dipped  a toe in and out briefly enough to hear BBC conflating 'infections' with 'cases', which maximizes alarm (a 'case' is highly symptomatic and obviously Ill. An 'infection' can be zero risk asymptomatic. They're not equivalent).

I compare several online news sources for current affairs. 'Ground News' is one news comparison site good for bursting bias blind spots. With science news I can often go straight to the data with no low IQ middleman activist journo muddying the waters. Based on the Government's own published data, here is London and the 'massive uncontrolled spike' that requires Lockdown 3 & Tier 4.

(Scratched record:) this so called wave is a fraction of spring epidemic which itself was fraction of Furgesson/Imperial's incorrectly predicted wave (the only wave scale which could have warranted measures).

The government and academic civil service machinery have completely lost touch of the big picture and do not understand the horror they are inflicting. A reminder, SAGE (including disgraced Professor Furgusson, who never left NERVTAG even though govt said he'd gone completely) nor other 'govt emergency academic depts' were card carrying specialist biologists or epidemiologists or virologists, they were mathematicians that make predictive guesses normally based on assumptions (not evidence). Or other depts like SPI-B are psychologists for social behaviour 'advise' (read 'control').
July they recruited some epidemic specialists but clearly only those who agreed with the narrative they'd established. Sage are secretive and cannot subject themselves to scrutiny. This is not science, it is dogma. You are being played.

I suggest to stop watching TV news.
It's pure mind control at this point.

The Outcome of a Convergence of Opportunism

First posted on social media, 2 November 2020

Like everyone else I have vulnerable loved ones. I wouldn't really object to the panic-demic measures if they were in the form of advise, guidelines and public education. We are adults. So fair enough. I would welcome them if they were to reduce risk to the vulnerable, which I'm sure they could. And sure there'd be a very small minority that misbehaves, but to coerce everyone to conform at a cost to their own well-being and risk to their own livelihoods, mental health and life is to oppress the majority for the misbehavior of a small minority and is anti liberal at its core.. state driven cruelty.

Lockdown: The Immoral Inversion of Informed Consent

(First posted on social media 4th November 2020)

Informed consent.

..is a request.

You are asked if you consent to a medical intervention.

It is a fundamental guideline to ethical medical practice.

Its my understanding that a medical procedure that is practiced without informed consent is illegal.

Informed consent reflects 2 of philosopher John Locke's 3 fundamental natural rights upon which liberalism rests:

the right to liberty (of eg thought, choice, action), and

the right to property (eg its your body, you can do what you want with it).

Matthew Paris is Right. BBC's Belief in Lockdown is Superstition

A commentary on Matthew Paris' article in 'The Times':
The BBC isn't Telling Us the Full Story on Covid

https://www.thetimes.co.uk/article/bbc-isnt-telling-us-the-full-story-on-covid-h2xm35pmh

Examples of an unfalsifiable hypotheses include:
Druids can turn water into a healing elixir, and it is a spiritual, non material change.
I have fairies at the bottom of my garden that only I can see.
A rain dance causes rain if performed enough times and in the right way.

In each case there is no test that can be independently replicated that, if the hypothesis is false, could demonstrate that it is actually false. If we cannot know if it is false or not, how can we know if it is true? We can't. We could believe it to be true, but belief is not knowledge. Belief without evidence is faith, superstition even.

Paris highlights that, after lockdown measures,
1. if there is a reduction in infections, BBC will mainly broadcast claims that the lockdown measures were effective,
2. if there is an increase in infections, BBC will mainly broadcast calls for a harder lockdown until a reduction is seen.
This makes the claim that 'lockdown is an effective strategy' an unfalsifiable hypothesis. No outcome can demonstrate that it is false, and we cannot know by this faulty reasoning that the hypothesis - 'lockdown is an effective strategy' - is in fact true.

Letter to Scotish Parliament Justice Committee on "Hate Crime and Order Bill"

Email to: Scotish Parliament Justice Committee
Subject: The Scottish government's "Hate Crime and Order Bill" , an objection
Sent 22 Jul 2020, 20:36

Dear sir or madam,

I write to you as a UK citizen with family members who live in Scotland.

Perhaps just a couple of decades ago, the prevailing orthodoxy pretty much regarded the idea of gay marriage as 'grossly offensive'. Can you imagine if we had all been threatened with imprisonment for expressing the idea of gay marriage at that time? The idea would have been suppressed and a civilisation living in fear of speaking out would have stagnated. Thankfully we were not, because of the liberal principle of freedom of speech as worked out in the Enlightenment by philosophical luminaries like John Locke and John Stuart-Mill. Consequently, the exchange of communications of what the then cultural and political orthodoxy would have regarded as controversial has enabled us as a civilisation to understand the merit of the idea, and the injustice of opposing it. Concurrently, and very importantly, bad ideas have been dismantled in the same, necessary light of public scrutiny.

The Totalitarian Dismantlement of Reason is Here

This was a sarcastic meme by mathematician James Lindsay that exposed the idiocy and authoritarianism of the Critical Social Justice ideology ('woke-ism') and that it seeks to dismantle reason itself; the ideology is an attack on Enlightenment values and the liberty required to pursue truth. The idealogues could not criticise the meme or say its wrong, because its actually how they think. Instead the idealogues attacked the meme maker and tried to show that 2+2=5 'can be just as true, bigot' (to paraphrase) or other such ideologically driven stupidity (see his article '2 Plus 2 Never Equals 5).

Its a cult.
Its a self amplifying ideological echo chamber that goes to great lengths to insulate itself from criticism and is defined - like fascism or Marxism or other political cults that sought to dismantle reason in order to control thought - by its collectivist beliefs.

Contested idea presented as 'truth' to children

What is white privilege?

We asked @JohnAmaechi, psychologist, best-selling author and former NBA basketball player to explain it for us.

The framing
"We asked @JohnAmaechi... to explain it for us."
presents the idea to the learner as a truth to be understood and learnt, rather than (at the very least) a highly contested political idea.

Statue Toppling is a Sounded Alarm, These 4 George Orwell Quotes Show Why

The moral standard with which historical figures like Edward Colston (and Jefferson, Washington, Columbus and others in the USA) have been judged by those who support the toppling of their statues is that involved among their various invested enterprises were slaves.
And there is outrage.

Today, the mineral Cobalt is mined in The Dem. Rep. of Congo by child slave labour (srcs: Guardian, Amnesty International), some proportion of which is almost certainly used in the electronic components of the device that you (likely) paid for and are currently using to read this. Likewise for the phones of every individual that video recorded and celebrated the toppling of Colston's statue.
And where is the outrage?

Dear Corporate Media and Political Agents, Covid Context Matters!

The media, politicians and government bodies are rarely providing CONTEXT on the current epidemic. Below are 3 decontextualised factoids used in whole or part. and without proper context by the media and government representatives, either to stoke fear or gain attention or both. Some important context for them has been added in order to reasonably inform the reader. Firstly, though, here are 4 opinions - 1 liberal and 3 humanist - that I hold, which themselves provide context for what follows.

1. Every individual has an equal right to life.
2. Coming to terms with suffering and mortality is a challenging, but necessary part of the human condition.
3. An end to a life that occurs towards the end of a natural life span is tragic.
4. An end to a life that occurs at the beginning or middle of a natural life span is a greater tragedy.

Therefore, and although it may be considered a small mercy, among the many lives lost in a tragedy, a majority of lives that are not lost towards the beginning of their natural lifespans is a mercy nonetheless.
That is to say...
An airplane crash populated mostly by octogenarians is a terrible tragedy.
An airplane crash populated mostly by children is a different scale of tragedy.

Its Not Safe Now, Surely?

Some stray thoughts about RISK.
You cannot eliminate risk, but you can minimize it and understand what the risk is:

The Doctor Who Became The Patient

When, twenty five years ago, Kate Mulgrew was cast as captain Kathryn Janeway, the lead role in Star Trek Voyager, I was indifferent to the facts of her immutable characteristics with regards to this decision. The show was mostly well scripted and an entertaining fantasy science fiction show that respected and understood that which gave the intellectual property value. It simply did not occur to me, or my fellow 'Trekkie' friends at the time, to make criticisms of her casting based on the actor/character's sex (or indeed any other of her unchangeable facets). Likewise with the other characters cast; they were well written, the show was largely character driven and they drove stories that explored ideas that were fun to ponder upon and be entertained by. Their immutable characteristics just were not relevant to anything there.
